Announcement of Dotson Emerging Professionals Award

The BCSP Foundation and Kyle B. Dotson, CIH, CSP, BCEE, founder of DOTSON Group, LLC, an EHS Safety Services organization, are pleased to announce the creation of a new grant—the Dotson Emerging Professionals Award.

Born out of appreciation for the mentorship and financial assistance that aided him in his career journey, the Dotson Emerging Professionals Award is a monetary grant that seeks to recognize and encourage early career professionals that have displayed excellence and leadership in the profession.

“I wouldn’t have had the 40-year safety and industrial hygiene career that I’ve enjoyed without the many wonderful mentors I had along the way,” said Kyle Dotson, CIH, CSP, BCEE, the sponsoring donor and namesake of the award. “That’s what this award is all about. I’m blessed to be able to help the BCSP Foundation honor early-career safety professionals as they become the future leaders of the community.”

Awardees will be recognized for their current contributions to the profession and their capacity to advance as a leader within the safety profession. Awardees will receive a monetary award, be presented at the annual BCSP Awards of Excellence ceremony, be recognized at the biennial BCSP Foundation R&I Summit, and be featured on the BCSP Foundation’s website and social media accounts.

“We are pleased to support the vision and inspiration of donors like Kyle Dotson, who share our commitment to advancing the profession by investing in the next generation of practitioners,” said Chair of the BCSP Foundation Tony Militello, P.E., CSP, CQE. “By investing in emerging professionals who have demonstrated leadership qualities, we create pathways of impact that will continue to grow as they move forward into practice. This award invites the next generation of leaders into a community that is invested in their progress.”

Applicants must be under 40 years old on Jan. 1 of the year it’s awarded, must be a practicing EHS professional currently or previously employed for the majority of their career (non-governmental), and must have a CSP, ASP, or GSP in good standing. ASSP members serving on the BCSP Emerging Leaders Committee at the time of the award and employees of BCSP or the BCSP Foundation are ineligible for consideration.

Applications for the award will open in Spring, 2023. More information can be found on the Grants & Scholarships page.
